The Mental Health Laboratory within the Brain Health Center, an integral part of the Department of Mental Health, Medical Psychology, and Psychotherapy at the "Nicolae Testemițanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, was initially founded as a narcology laboratory by order of the rector of the State Institute of Medicine in Chișinău (today USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu") no. 365 from 14.02.1984. Over time, the laboratory has evolved, with its main objectives being the evaluation of psychoactive substance use, including alcohol, among young people.
Research Activities
The initial studies focused on anonymous interviews with participants, using the ESPAD questionnaire (European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs), adapted for the Republic of Moldova. As a result of these studies, 2 monographs, 2 methodological works, 2 guides, 12 manuals, and 5 brochures were published, aimed at parents, educators, psychologists, doctors, and adolescents.
